1. Tikatok is a Web site that is designed by Barnes and Noble. The website allows the user to scan in pictures that were drawn by themselves or a student and add text to create their own story. The site also has story starters and books that are already created but need a few details added. An adult can then buy a copy of the book. Tikatok provides a new way to engage students in writing their own stories.

Gingerbread Man Inquiry Based Lesson
2. Gingerbread Man Activities is an inquiry based lesson designed for 2nd grade students to complete and can be found at https://sites.google.com/site/gingerbreadmanactivities/. The students, in partners, are creating a digital video of their own tale of The Gingerbread Man and comparing and contrasting their tale with The Gingerbread Man retold by Eric Kimmel and The Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett, using Photostory software. Photostory is a free software and the download can be found at this URL: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/photostory/default.mspx
In order to complete the activities the students will need access to a digital camera, a microphone, Photostory 3 software, and a computer with an Internet connection. If you do not have access to a digital camera, the students can scan the illustrations of their story into the computer. The students will need assistance with uploading photos to the computer, importing the photos into Photostory, and recording their story.
